Blockchain Resort

AB DAO and the AB Charity Foundation have jointly announced the launch of Timor-Leste AB Resort, the world’s first national-level blockchain-themed resort. More than a beachfront getaway, the project is envisioned as a cutting-edge innovation hub combining artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology R&D, financial services, and sustainable development.

According to official sources, the project will span 300,000 square meters along Timor-Leste’s prime coastline. Development will proceed in four phases, with the first phase—covering 26,000 square meters—scheduled for completion within the next 18 months.

A Future Prototype Merging Technology and Lifestyle

Positioned as a “microcosm of the future city,” Timor-Leste AB Resort will gather key players across the AI and blockchain value chains. Planned facilities include:

  • Technology R&D centers and startup incubators
  • Luxury hotels and resort villas
  • Digital nomad communities and remote workspaces
  • A training academy and international convention center
  • A yacht club and marine experience zone
  • An on-chain financial services hub offering digital currency payments, exchange, and storage solutions

The resort has already secured critical financial licenses from the Timor-Leste government, including those for stablecoin issuance, digital banking, and crypto asset exchange operations. It is poised to become a leading on-chain payment pilot zone in Southeast Asia, supporting mainstream cryptocurrency transactions.

Project developers noted that the resort will be open to global participation and aims to attract high-end organizations and talent, including AI labs, blockchain protocol projects, international blockchain media, research institutions, conference organizers, and tech advisors.

Regular events such as global blockchain summits, tech competitions, industry forums, and incubation camps are planned to accelerate the commercialization of innovation and foster international collaboration.

Driven by Both Charity and Regulatory Compliance

As part of AB DAO’s “Tech for Good” strategy, 5% to 10% of the resort’s annual net profits will be allocated to the AB Charity Foundation, supporting global initiatives in education, healthcare, and sustainable development.

“We hope this project will not only serve as a milestone in blockchain development but also help transform Timor-Leste’s economy and enhance social welfare,” said Bertie Ahern, Chairman of the AB Charity Foundation and former Prime Minister of Ireland.

Boris Tadić, former President of Serbia and AB Chain’s regulatory compliance advisor, described the project as a “new hub for global tech exchange and industrial collaboration,” and emphasized its decentralized governance structure as “a future model for trusted financial infrastructure.”

Through strategic cooperation with the Timor-Leste government, AB DAO will also support the upgrade of local digital infrastructure, including connectivity, energy, and educational systems. The developers announced plans to establish a Timor-Leste Blockchain Academy to cultivate local tech talent and build a sustainable industrial ecosystem.

As blockchain technology moves increasingly into mainstream applications, Timor-Leste AB Resort is seen as a pioneering model of “blockchain + tourism” integration. Its realization marks the emergence of a next-generation city—anchored in technology, philanthropy, and sustainability—taking shape in the real world.
